Audit from China

4.4.2011

Quite unusual audit was performed in BMT from 9 to 11 May, 2011. A supervisory pressure vessels audit was performed after five years by Chinese inspectors to extend the export license for the Chinese market. The audit process was quite interesting. The inspectors checked mainly the implementation of different requirements of Chinese regulations as compared to our customs, especially in the sphere of documentation, non-destructive testing, acceptance and approval of pressure vessels. The audit was participated by three auditors; two of them were from CSEI (China Special Equipment Inspection and Research Institute) and one from AQSIQ (Administration of Quality Supervision Inspection and Quarantine).

We have cleared the extent and way of requirements fulfillment; the auditors were satisfied. We can see an obvious shift of the Chinese government authorities towards the European and international standards that have already been adopted by them in a greater extent and that allow us easier assertion on the market. However, ASME procedures are preferred. The subsequent checking audit will be performed after 5 years again. According to the information available, the European regulations and certifications should be adopted and accepted fully to make the next visit useless. Let it be a surprise.
